LOL……..Remember in grade school how your mom would make you give Valentine’s to EVERY kid in your class…even the boy that smelled funny or the girl with the buck teeth…lol….didn’t want to leave anyone out, you know…..btw I was chubby, wore glasses, had pig tails and wore ALOT of pink………..I’ve come a long way since I was 8….LOL…..

@ Billy re: Nougat…….yeah, yeah, yeah….I couldn’t for the life of me remember how to spell it, I had to skim my copy of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ because I knew that Agustus Gloop talked about it at one point….LOL

I haven’t dated in 13+ years, but I’ve heard that guys are getting more and more commitmentphobic/lazy/uninvolved. Yes, I know that this is not true for Aaron, Billy and others, but from what I’ve heard, this is more for early 20-somethings. I’m sure I’ll get blasted, and I know there are plenty of young guys who work hard on relationships and would love to be in a relationship where they can express their deep feelings, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule. Guys won’t even ask girls on dates anymore, they go out in groups.Good morning, KFG! It just wouldn’t be a KFG if there weren’t at least 4 postings. LOL You gave me a great idea – I think we should change our avatars to be pictures of us when we were kids (elementary school or earlier). “Emotion-free”? This strip I definitely missed. That’s like giving somebody an I.O.U. for whatever. Sounds like a waste of money, unless you want to tell the person, “I know you exist” ! My father-in-law liked to buy mushy expensive cards for whatever reason. He was a rare one. Most men I know chafe at the idea of getting cards or whatever for their spouses or significant others, unless it’s their birthday.

Aaron – did you fall asleep on the sofa again? ;-)

There are no guys in the store because it’s not Feb 14 yet, at least outside of Cathy’s BizarroWorld. If it’s like stores around here, the Valentine cards have been on display since December 26th. Kinda nuts to have ONE day to express special love. The 20-somethings who Billy and I know are college students. No shortage of romantic times for those in our circle at least. They studying and hold hands (7 couples in our group and another dozen evolving friendships across the grade levels and majors). Then again, my vision (even with only one good eye at the moment) is not cynical. Tomorrow we’re having the 7 couples over for a special dinner. Two of the guys came up with the idea, and their girlfriends were as happy as they were surprised.

Morning Susan :-) Hiya lightenup. Billy didn’t tell me he updated our avatars. The ‘face’ shots are a feature of iPhoto on our Macs. He didn’t have to crop them himself. I’ve said before, people find it hard to believe Billy is an MD and not a model. $206M? Wow, and I was bragging on $43M. Billy isn’t a half-way kinda guy.

Morning Mona and maybe gmforde. Haven’t seen her in a few days. Mona Billy left a note on yesterday’s Cathy. He said he’d rather give me a hug than a thump on the head. Twice a day hugs — one when I get home in the a.m. safe and sound, and one before I go to work at night. He doesn’t leave for work until I get home and I’m home until he gets home too.

Time for sleep. I’m overdue again. :-D

Having spent a few years working in a Hallmark store, I can attest to the fact that the guys don’t show up until 6:30 PM on February 13th!! As big as the crowd always was, the men were always so patient and kind to us that we didn’t mind not being able to close the store on time.

Mona you’ll never know how really nice it is to read your comment. The smile on my face and the feeling in my heart is lightyears beyond happy. Thank you.

The best by far is when Billy calls me my Aaron. For every one person who, like you, find us endearing, there are too many more who think we’ve no right to be. [shrug]

It’s kinda weird on one level that Cathy and Irving really did end up getting married. What they have in common seems to be very little. But even ‘very little’ is a good thing. It’s about 1000 times more than having nothing in common.

My eyes are teary, for Mona and hendelca saying nice things. And for what Aaron posted and then retracted. Forgive me all (and especially Aaron but it does belong here). He said: That brings me crushing sadness and tears. How can one see us as good, and someone else hate us so badly? I don’t understand. It’s like stepping from reality into Cathy’s BizarroWorld, and not being able to return from it. He replaced that with his typical [shrug]. Wish he didn’t think it was necessary to edit it.

He also said, this a.m. “. . . One day to express special love”. We do it in 365 days, not in one special day because they’re all special. We’ve had adversity as much as we’ve had good times. We’ve spent half our lives together. My own tear-bringer, and why I can understand the envy hendelca spoke, is about Aaron not coming home one morning. I’d love to think all the Cathys and irvings out there have something very strong to keep them together. It’s not magic. It’s not hard work either. Be you. Period. This is what we teach our 20-something college friends. My crew at work and Aaron’s crew at his squad, accept us and love us. Not everyone does, but I (unlike one of Aaron’s ‘weaknesses’) don’t seek approval. I want to be a good man. Not a label that makes some hate me. I’m above and beyond that label, and Aaron stands at that plane with me.

While my husband isn’t overly gushy and romantic when it comes to the spoken word (although he does tell me every day that he loves me), he shows his love every day by all the little things he does for me — and us. And he never ceases to amaze me when it comes to a card for Valentine’s Day, my birthday, our anniversary and Christmas . . . they’re always so sweet and romantic. It’s nice to know that he still feels that way about me, even after 23 years together.

Aaron and Dr. Billy: Mona, hendelca, lightenup and K.F.G aren’t the only ones around here who think the two of you are just as cute as you can be. You can count me in on that sentiment too! :-)

Looks like I just missed you by a little bit, Billy, but I wanted to say that you and Aaron have a beautiful relationship and you are both beautiful people. There will always be people who talk/hate, but I hope you ignore them and focus on the positive (it sounds like you do already). Lots of love and support from your Cathy friends, especially me…

Hi to all Cathyites!!

My hubby comes thru with cards, sentiment and we usually go out to dinner to celebrate all the little holidays (Valentines, Anniversaries, etc). This V-Day we are going to a “Folky Valentine” concert to have a chuckle over maybe a little more “realistic” view of love and romance throughout history (tee hee).
