I havenāt dated in 13+ years, but Iāve heard that guys are getting more and more commitmentphobic/lazy/uninvolved. Yes, I know that this is not true for Aaron, Billy and others, but from what Iāve heard, this is more for early 20-somethings. Iām sure Iāll get blasted, and I know there are plenty of young guys who work hard on relationships and would love to be in a relationship where they can express their deep feelings, but I think they are the exception rather than the rule. Guys wonāt even ask girls on dates anymore, they go out in groups.Good morning, KFG! It just wouldnāt be a KFG if there werenāt at least 4 postings. LOL You gave me a great idea ā I think we should change our avatars to be pictures of us when we were kids (elementary school or earlier). Thatād be so cute!Good morning, Aaron and Susan! @ Aaron ā I know it was the same picture as before, but now we can see your handsome face better. Love it!@ lindz.coop ā Congratulations on your WW weigh-in! Thatās an accomplishment and I hope you celebrate with a little chocolate and some fun activity like a massage or whatever makes you happy.@ Billy ā Thatās betterā¦ phew! Hopefully Iām not in trouble still. ;-) What are you going to buy with your āwealthā? Some extra hotels? A gold plated scottie dog? Iāve always been interested in a railroad if you want to send one my way.Hello to GsMom, gmforde, rgcviper, hendelca, Mona and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!
āEmotion-freeā? This strip I definitely missed. Thatās like giving somebody an I.O.U. for whatever. Sounds like a waste of money, unless you want to tell the person, āI know you existā ! My father-in-law liked to buy mushy expensive cards for whatever reason. He was a rare one. Most men I know chafe at the idea of getting cards or whatever for their spouses or significant others, unless itās their birthday.
There are no guys in the store because itās not Feb 14 yet, at least outside of Cathyās BizarroWorld. If itās like stores around here, the Valentine cards have been on display since December 26th. Kinda nuts to have ONE day to express special love. The 20-somethings who Billy and I know are college students. No shortage of romantic times for those in our circle at least. They studying and hold hands (7 couples in our group and another dozen evolving friendships across the grade levels and majors). Then again, my vision (even with only one good eye at the moment) is not cynical. Tomorrow weāre having the 7 couples over for a special dinner. Two of the guys came up with the idea, and their girlfriends were as happy as they were surprised.
Ā
Morning Susan :-) Hiya lightenup. Billy didnāt tell me he updated our avatars. The āfaceā shots are a feature of iPhoto on our Macs. He didnāt have to crop them himself. Iāve said before, people find it hard to believe Billy is an MD and not a model. $206M? Wow, and I was bragging on $43M. Billy isnāt a half-way kinda guy.
Ā
Morning Mona and maybe gmforde. Havenāt seen her in a few days. Mona Billy left a note on yesterdayās Cathy. He said heād rather give me a hug than a thump on the head. Twice a day hugs ā one when I get home in the a.m. safe and sound, and one before I go to work at night. He doesnāt leave for work until I get home and Iām home until he gets home too.
Having spent a few years working in a Hallmark store, I can attest to the fact that the guys donāt show up until 6:30 PM on February 13th!! As big as the crowd always was, the men were always so patient and kind to us that we didnāt mind not being able to close the store on time.
Mona youāll never know how really nice it is to read your comment. The smile on my face and the feeling in my heart is lightyears beyond happy. Thank you.
Ā Ā
The best by far is when Billy calls me my Aaron. For every one person who, like you, find us endearing, there are too many more who think weāve no right to be. [shrug]
Itās kinda weird on one level that Cathy and Irving really did end up getting married. What they have in common seems to be very little. But even āvery littleā is a good thing. Itās about 1000 times more than having nothing in common.
Ā
My eyes are teary, for Mona and hendelca saying nice things. And for what Aaron posted and then retracted. Forgive me all (and especially Aaron but it does belong here). He said: That brings me crushing sadness and tears. How can one see us as good, and someone else hate us so badly? I donāt understand. Itās like stepping from reality into Cathyās BizarroWorld, and not being able to return from it. He replaced that with his typical [shrug]. Wish he didnāt think it was necessary to edit it.
Ā
He also said, this a.m. ā. . . One day to express special loveā. We do it in 365 days, not in one special day because theyāre all special. Weāve had adversity as much as weāve had good times. Weāve spent half our lives together. My own tear-bringer, and why I can understand the envy hendelca spoke, is about Aaron not coming home one morning. Iād love to think all the Cathys and irvings out there have something very strong to keep them together. Itās not magic. Itās not hard work either. Be you. Period. This is what we teach our 20-something college friends. My crew at work and Aaronās crew at his squad, accept us and love us. Not everyone does, but I (unlike one of Aaronās āweaknessesā) donāt seek approval. I want to be a good man. Not a label that makes some hate me. Iām above and beyond that label, and Aaron stands at that plane with me.
While my husband isnāt overly gushy and romantic when it comes to the spoken word (although he does tell me every day that he loves me), he shows his love every day by all the little things he does for me ā and us. And he never ceases to amaze me when it comes to a card for Valentineās Day, my birthday, our anniversary and Christmas . . . theyāre always so sweet and romantic. Itās nice to know that he still feels that way about me, even after 23 years together.
Ā
Aaron and Dr. Billy: Mona, hendelca, lightenup and K.F.G arenāt the only ones around here who think the two of you are just as cute as you can be. You can count me in on that sentiment too! :-)
Ā
Good evening to the two of you, lightenup, K.F.G., Susan, rgcviper, gmforde, lindz.coop, Mona, hendelca and all the rest of the Cathy fanatics joining us here tonight. Chin up! Tomorrowās Friday!!!!! ;-)
Looks like I just missed you by a little bit, Billy, but I wanted to say that you and Aaron have a beautiful relationship and you are both beautiful people. There will always be people who talk/hate, but I hope you ignore them and focus on the positive (it sounds like you do already). Lots of love and support from your Cathy friends, especially meā¦
Aaron ā āThere are no guys in the store because itās not Feb 14 yetā ā I love it ā itās just so true.
Hi to all Cathyites!!
My hubby comes thru with cards, sentiment and we usually go out to dinner to celebrate all the little holidays (Valentines, Anniversaries, etc). This V-Day we are going to a āFolky Valentineā concert to have a chuckle over maybe a little more ārealisticā view of love and romance throughout history (tee hee).
HI all ye wonderful/ crazy Cathy nuts Lightenup, Billy, Aaron, Gretchās Ma, Susan, Viperdude, lindzcoop, gmforde, Mona and hendelcaā¦.and everyone else that wanders into Cathyās bizzaro world :)
