Some years back, there was an emergency (a fire, maybe?) at a hospital that required evacuating the nursery. It was such a nightmare that several of the nurses collaborated afterwards and invented an emergency evacuation “apron.”
It went over the head and had big pockets on front and back so one nurse could safely carry four or five babies at a time. It was only for short distances, of course, and not for everyday use. But it worked! No more frantic hunt for extra volunteers to carry one or two babies at a time in case of emergency. I don’t even remember which country this was in, as it was some years back.
