New York Times The Morning: P.S. After being vaccinated, our colleague Kevin Roose made a surprise trip to visit his mom for her birthday. Hereâs her reaction. https://twitter.com/kevinroose/status/1383932635815112725
Sigh. Looks like weâre in for another steaming load of âBoth sides are equally bad, as long as I donât look at the actual effects of their policies.â
I think Carmenâs dilemma is one many thoughtful conservatives are experiencing (yes, Virginia, there are some thoughtful conservatives out there), just are there are some thoughtful liberals. Neither conservatism nor liberalism is âbadâ in and of itself. Itâs the extremists on both sides that are the problem.
Can someone, please, tell me when our country ceased being a âRepublicâ and became a âDemocracyâ? Also when did âMilitary Style Firearmsâ become âAssault Riflesâ? Thank you my friends.
Interesting article about debate between Artificial Intelligence and humans. Spoiler: AI excels at marshaling a rational argument. Humans, OTOH, are much, much superior at generating BS. And, surprise!, it turns out many, many humans find the BS much more persuasive. Which explains the popularity of trump, a world-class BS-er.
Science and emotion are NOT mutually exclusive. The best solutions combine both. There are exceptions however, there is no such thing as a compassionate atom bomb.

Governing?
Republicans (the Party Of Trump) donât do governing.
They do corruption, treason, gerrymandering, voter suppression, racism, obstruction, power grabbing.
These days, they are just more honest about it than before.

This âcomicâ strip is a consistently unfunny statement of the obvious and a tiresome discussion of Stantisâs own conservative angst. Terrible.

Iâm gonna say this is the human condition, nothing to do with the politics. Itâs where you put your emotions that matters.

Oh My Gosh. Does this mean that Carmen might actually consider becoming a Lincoln Republican?

âGovernment should be more facts than emotions.â
âShould beâ as distinct from âis,â Heart.
Carmen knows whatâs going on just fine.

âHeartâ makes an excellent point. Facts have played a very small role in political policy and governing the last few decades.
