Wow, Rover is one strong headed dog.

Large color Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs, for the whippersnappers) used such a high anode voltage that they generated small amounts of X-rays. Staying a few feet away offered the protection of the inverse square law. So, Mom was right.

Pretty strong dog! Our last tv from that era was a whopping 26” console and heavy as a refrigerator!

A stiff-necked fellow, that Rover. <3 But sitting close to the TV may be an indication of myopia …

Also, “Don’t watch TV in the dark. You’ll go blind.” But it’s okay to watch movies in the dark? Whatever, Mom.

Rover… Red’s stalwart protector. Too close to the TV is hard on the eyes, Red. Especially young ones!

I can lift a television set, but wow, that is one strong dog. Do not underestimate the amazing feats of cats and dogs, they may not have the same appendages we do, but sometimes they can do much more than even we humans can (and will).

I find it odd that the TV was that far away from the wall to begin with.
