Sometimes you need bigger government to handle a larger population. Imagine trying to run a country of over 325 million people with a government meant to handle 5 million people.
It’d be like Walmart trying to run all it’s stores with 5 checkout counters and two stock clerks.
Or Amazon trying to do it with a single warehouse run out of a garage and two people.
If you want to reduce the size of the government, try reducing the size of the military. Then simply move that money over to the things that would make us actually safer and healthier.
So, Breen needs to explain Exactly HOW spending money on physical infrastructure projects that are FAR OVERDUE, as well as expanding health and education opportunities to help prepare for the future challenges the country will be facing, is in any way “Bigger Government”. I’ll wait…
Even people of mediocre intellect realize that maintaining and improving infrastructure is crucial to a healthy society. Green knows this, too. He’s simply following the radical right’s playbook of whining about anything that the “libs” do.
This is a perfect example of why Mr. Breen makes me feel old. He, unlike any other cartoonist, has perfected the art of selecting colors which confuse my eyes and make it very difficult to see any details. I know I am a grumpy old soul whose eyes are at least as old as the hills, but I don’t need some whippersnapper of a cartoonist to rub it in my face. I mean, my eyes. Whatever. Anyway—for the sake of old and cranky folks like me—please find a new palette!
Irony: The ‘bigger’ government gets, the more the people have to say about what the government does. Knee-jerk (or just plain jerk) reactions to the guv-mint are increasingly laughable these days. Support your local revenuer.
Sure.. but the trickle down will help more of the little people than the trickle down of the tax cuts. And.. you just might get a new coat of paint on that rusty bridge.. a win win if ever there was one.
The idea that the DC government will somehow become enlarged with the proposed infrastructure bill isn’t at all correct. The government will stay the same as the bill will simply send the funds out to the states to use in improving their portion of infrastructure. Perhaps a new branch of government may need to be pulled together to manage the funds, but those can be drawn from the already manned departments like commerce, transportation, and the FCC.

So don’t be silly and outdated.

Really? We are seeing what happens when there is a functional government and you are stoking old Republican talking points?

Anyone but Breen would have said ‘Better Government’, but once programed, a zombie is stuck on track.

You asked for more services, so you need people to run it.

I’ve been waiting decades for a president to follow through on his promise to address the infrastructure of this country. Finally we have one.

How does employing Engineers, Architects, Construction Workers, etc. to repair falling down roads, bridges, etc. make government bigger?

Better than the racist republican plan to destroy the American government and elect a dictator.

At least there is a plan… especially compared to #45 shooting from the hip, and the GOP officially having no platform…

Is Breen saying that he prefers living in the 19th Century?
