Mt. Mitchell, NC, the WMIT tower regularly fills completely with rime and hoar ice. 25 feet between the tower legs, so it looks like a gargantuan ice cube.

And winds that blow clothes off of one person and not another…

Icicles? Looks like woodcicles to me…

Yeah, open water in the winter is for the birds. No, actually, even the birds have the sense to go south and be warm.

guess we got lazy on the coloring. using the same color as the boat for the icicles.

Clearly they’ve never been to Canada.

It’s the icicles on your sails and mast that will capsize your ship. It makes them too top-heavy. I had a friend who worked on a commercial salmon fishing boat in Alaska one winter. He had ENORMOUS arm muscles (like Popeye the Sailor) from hammering on the rigging.

I don’t know if the North Sea is colder than the Bering Sea, but February in the Bering Sea is cold.

They ran out of blue ink.
