This is probably way too often true. And becoming more and more true and more of a problem today with churches and pastors wanting to be “progressive” and/or “politically correct” or adapt to “woke” social ideas.
May pastors, as they pray and study God’s Word, be guided by the Holy Spirit to discern the true truth – God’s truth – and follow and live and teach and preach it.
May we also pray, study, listen, discern, and live the truth.
Our new pastor is a “God is forgiving” type (such a breath of fresh air!), but the old timers are pining for more fire and brimstone again so that they can wallow in all the guilt they were raised with.
The Bibles of any religion are ancient text subject to much interpretation. A minister, priest, rabbi, whatever, is basically “winging it” in the hopes that his words and actions will be helpful in the community without discouraging independent thought. It’s a fine line and “waverers” tend to blur it. :)
Yes, unfortunately way too common. It is also a problem in far right churches actually preaching politics from the pulpit! Wow. Pastors need to preach about God’s Word. Period. No politics.
I am called to love my neighbor. Having a government take my taxes and be “charitable” with them is not charity. Progressives seem to believe an impersonal secular government should take the place of my personal call to be charitable. Good intentions maybe, but too many unintended consequences.
One of the last times I was at a religious service, the clergyman was Irish. It sounded so…right…in that context. Whereas ones I’ve heard in a southern accent puts ‘dog and pony show’ in mind.

Put that in the old Mad Magazine feature, Scenes We’d Like to See.

I can totally believe that. It’s just his interpretation

I can’t imagine any church admitting that.

Politically correct churches are to be avoided at all costs. God (and the Bible) hasn’t changed!

But they are more in line with the GOP’s rhetoric.

That is even ‘TRUE,’ when they read straight from the ‘Book of Fairy-Tales.’

Sadly, that could apply to any number of ministers today
