Gather ye diaspores while ye may

    Old Time is still a-flying

And this same elaiosome that’s sweet to day,

    To morrow will be drying.

My ant used to involved with that myrmecochory group. But when she was over the hill, they sent her packing.

Today the Frog Applause rabbit hole taught me not only about seed dispersal by insects because of elaiasomes, but much about ants and also caruncles. I learned that an ancient Greek circular dance was a χορεία, that some seeds involved in myrmecochory do not have elaiasomes but arils, that some arils are delicious (as in lychee nuts) but that there are many false fruits – the deceptive bastards – and here I thought I was getting part of my five a day when I ate pears, figs, and strawberries. This strip is so lame.

Huh. Dictionary says that myrmecochory is the collection and dispersal of plant seeds by ants. Unless this bird helps to move the ants about, this is lame.

Like BEES, the ANTS pollinate from one place to another! These critters are amazingly busy…their work is never done…. unless of course they’re red ants and bite you! In that case, the Froglandia Bathmat factory has a wide selection in our RX department for ant bites, scratches, spider bites, dung beetle pinches, and bee and hornet stings. Even if you’ve been slimed by a snail, we have just the right ointment for your needs! We at the Bathmat Factory stand by our products and full refunds if you’re not satisfied.

In ancient Greece if a man wanted to marry a woman he would toss an apple to her.

If she kept the apple it means she accepted. It didn’t say what happened when someone tossed an Android.

The cat is always hungry. And often hyperactive. It is a design feature.

The ants plant the seeds of ant-seeding plants.

Doesn’t mean you should be antsy when you see fruits and seeds seemingly automobile, because those busy little baggage-haulers are doing their business right there in front of your not-so-keen eyes.

Birds may add distance to the process, not always to the wellness of the passenger ants, who may be digested and excreted, seeding the sh*tty way.

    And so it goes….
