I will explain. In Sept 1962 JFK made his “We choose to go to the Moon” speech. By FY 1963 (Oct 63) NASA budget went to $43,156 Mil (over 40 Bil today). A cry from the far left was made, that money should be spent on the poor. It a JFK Moon Boondoggle. JFK was not the hero of the far left yet, and NASA was thought to be a money pit.
