email for more details.
There’s an obscure traffic light on a road someone must have thought would get more traffic when they made it. Unfortunately its sensors sometimes break due to lack of maintenance and you’ll find yourself waiting for 5 minutes for a green that will never come.
I don’t know what the legal limit for “this light is clearly broken I’m gonna go” is but I may have violated it.
My other story is a traffic light that would not give a green on a major state route intersection. Semis piled up behind me for several cycles of the light. Eventually one of the semis intentionally blocked the road so everyone else could get a move on.
Stop signs are not placed arbitrarily. What you are expected to have as a good citizen is the habit of stopping at stop signs. Good habits are as easy to form as bad habits. If you have the habit of NOT stopping at stop signs, you will eventually meet someone with the same habit. It will NOT be a social occasion.
Some years ago, I was riding a city bus, on my way to work. The bus was sitting at a red light, with a police car right beside us. A red pickup truck coming from the opposite direction blew right through the red light at a high rate of speed. The cop turned on his overhead lights and did a U-turn. Everyone on the bus laughed.
in the lae 80’s i worked in Stamford Ct and my g/f was going to college in Boston so i took a lot of Amtraks and one time i was gonig to take the special line. Attwo trains had just left so there was no one in the station. i went to the ticket counter and tried to buy a ticket for that friday-sorry we don’t sell those during rush hour because of the rush. it was me, him and two winos. He said i could order it on the phone so i walked to a bank of payphone placed the order. wrote my confirmation number walked back and said “I’d like to pick up my ticket please” and he was “yes sir i’ll get that for you.”
It’s an old and very unreliable tale that in 1895 in Kansas, Ohio, and/or a few other states, at the time there were only two cars in the entire state! And yet… crash.

Doesn’t matter if nobody else is around. Yo are still required to stop for a red “light”.

Stop, caution or go must be printed on the sign for color blind driver’s to know what to
dcdete. almost 4 years ago
That’s not true. The guy with the signs is standing on the road, and he likely didn’t want to be run over.

Wait until the traffic light has a malfunction and it keeps blinking the same color until they fix it!

An intelligent traffic control system would know that. Isn’t it too bad we don’t have any intelligent traffic control systems?

These roads look a lot better than the roads in and around Columbia, MO.

“Rigidity of performance,” government repetitively does the same thing regardless if it is needed or not.
