You’re always giving Opal a hard time Earl. She’s just paying you back.

For those who don’t like licorice and bite into it, ‘Ugh’ is an automatic response. I don’t like Jelly Beans of any flavor, but do like anise cookies. Anise(licorice) is an analgesic and is good for an upset tummy.

Purple over black! No way!

So write a letter to the jelly bean factory, Earl, and tell them to stop making black jelly beans.

Is that like discovering that your new next door neighbor is not purple?

They’re not THAT bad, Earl. And for crying out loud, it was only one. I mean, I don’t really care for them, but if I get one in a handful, I’ll eat it. I get Jelly Bellies and they have blackberry. Hard to tell the two apart sometimes. And don’t get the Mayfair spice jelly beans. The red ones are the same flavor as black.

Black jelly beans are my husband’s favorite. I don’t care for jelly beans one way or the other, so they are all his.

It’s those dark green jelly beans that taste funky, to me…

I made an effort and got over my long dislike of licorice for exactly that reason.

that’s all my mother waned was the black ones – a couple once in a while maybe but she would eat a whole bag of them – yuck

I’m a really big fan of religiously avoiding every single semi-foodstuffs that’s made with genetically engineered corn syrup, let along high fructose corn syrup, and that’s well over 95% of all corn syrups in this country.

But, yeah, I kind of miss some of my childhood sweets that are only made with that vile stuff these days.

The only time black licorice tastes good is when I got a shot of ouzo in my hand.

If the roles were reversed and Earl was sarcastic, then Opal would deck him.

I LOVE black jelly beans. At Easter time, I always buy a whole bag of just black and then savor them for as long as they will last.

Opal’s sarcasm isn’t helpful, but it sure is entertaining!

I can’t blame him. I remember when I first tried black licorice…it was HORRIBLE. Never again.

Hopefully there’s a specialist out there who can help Earl…because he needs it, those things are utterly disgusting.
