Usually if my dog removes the squeaker, it just ends up on the floor. I have sewn a few back in, but usually they are all icky so just get new ones. She really likes the star-shaped ones from Belly Bands. She has 3, generally keeps them in one area together in the house. I am glad she doesn’t swallow them, she’s just too small to process one easily.
My old Guide Dig used to LOVE her toys. She would carry them so very gently. Once, she was excited, and picked up her squeaky squirrel and activated the squeaker. She froze, looking horrified, lay the toy down and nosed it all over as if to say “Honey, are you all right?!” and then picked the squirrel back up and tenderly carried it to her bed and curled up with it! We never had to remove squeakies. She never activated them!
Both of my Rotties have taken care of this problem. My baby girl used to remove the eyes and squeaker and might play with it again before she passed and my handsome man will remove the squeakers then remove all body parts so he will have 6 toys from 1.
I had a Basset Hound that loved squeaky toys, she wore out 5 or 6 a year. I miss her a lot, the squeaky toys not so much. Though when I hear one it reminds me of her.

I hate when that happens. A family member does squeak-ectomies on some toys where the sound is a tad too much.

My Lizzie takes out all the squeekers, save for one toy. Ms. Cow which is so big she can’t destroy it, lol;)

Whoa! My yellow Lab did exactly that, once! Fortunately, he hadn’t yet swallowed the squeaker…

Gave my husky a plush starfish toy with a squeaker in each arm – within an hour she’d performed a quintuple squeaker-ectomy!
