This is the reference post for people who like to read about and discuss the history of Gasoline Alley. It will allow them to put their comments in replies and those who don’t can bypass the discussion by leaving the replies closed. Fair for everyone, I think.
wow old joel dont bath and sleeps in a barn with a donkey…dont be down wind of him thats for sure. plus those lanterns and all the hay scream for a fire
Good art often forces us to ask questions of the world. “Who are we?” “Where is humanity going as a species?” “Are we destined to repeat the mistakes of our ancestors, and are our descendants destined to repeat ours?”
Meanwhile this strip is making me wonder “Is it even possible to housebreak a donkey, or does this guy sleep in the same room a donkey craps in every day?”
Jeez, he must smell so bad it’s no wonder the rest of the townfolk are always glad to see the back of him.
Joel’s alliterative statement to Becky was meant in jest and yet it appears Becky is not sure how to take it…. with her having never heard the original “bed bugs” line…. and I guess also because she is a mule. :)
Hopefully, with a good night’s rest… our hero, Joel, will awaken refreshed…. and ready and raring to go to once again be of help and assistance to others he meets!

MILLENNIALS: Joel’s last comment refers to the following poem from the American frontier:
Nighty night / Sleep tight / Don’t let the bed bugs bite
But if they do / Take your shoe / And break their little heads in two

So… still early in the week – now we get a dream sequence from Joel?
Seems like there’s a great untapped GA story in finding out how Joel and Rufus got together in the first place?
