The locked door: Captain Napalm’s kryptonite.
Why is he drawing out the second M instead of the O?
I feel like it should be “MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM” and not “MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM”.
Our hero. (NOT!)
It’s dark in here, and I’m scared…..
Just imagine Superman unable to get out of a telephone booth.
Calvin’s mom is the real superhero.
You know, turning chicken arguably IS the American way that Captain Napalm’s defending…
Superhuman powers is not his superpower. Calling for Mom is.
I’ve also seen this done with “our next guest, the AMAZING HOUDINI !”
This strip is early in the series, before Stupendous Man was introduced.
Wonder where moms get their superpowers from?!?
Captain Napalm instead of Stupendous Man?
He quickly is closed into the closet!
If Mom was smart she wouldn’t answer for 10 or 12 hours.
Mom has discovered her secret super power to keep Calvin corralled—there’s an automatic lock on the closet door!
Now, this is evil. Captain NAPALM, Protector of the American Way. Maybe Waterson preferred Communist Vietnam, North Korea, Soviet Union, China, or Cuba? Repent, Waterson, repent.
Looks like Captain Napalm got burned….
Wonder if he got himself “stuck” in the zipper.
Captain Napalm: Exists
A locked closet door: I’m gonna end this man’s whole career
Our half-bath closes itself, so naturally one of our dogs gets trapped there once a week or so.
Captain Napalm has a lot to learn.
“Captain Napalm” has a nice ring to it. Should I adopt it as my user name?
So frustrating, when your superpowers can’t even get you out of the closet, forcing you to call in your trusty sidekick, Mom-Lady.
An anagram of his name is, “am an applicant.”
‘Captain Napalm’ ? That’s only a little insensitive.
Closet Man super-arsonist
Years later, Calvin would come out of the closet.
Damn, I nosed my coffee…
His Kryptonite? Fear of being locked in a dark closet.
Bill got it right!
This confused me as a kid. When I closed myself in a closet, I had no trouble getting out.
What, ya canna read? Sound it out!
Yep, back when Stupendous Man was named Captain Napalm, and before his mom made the familiar costume!
Hey Calvin! While you are locked in there, can you kill the large spider that was in there earlier today?
There are times when even Captain Napalm also needs the comfort of mother, I guess.
Before becoming Stupendous Man, Calvin took the persona of one of his favourite comic book characters!
