Mom has the power to kick him out of the house and make him a part-time dad, but I don’t think she plans to do that.

The problem is for dad, considering that Calvin will be his son forever.

Should’ve told him that he’s appointed “dad” for Calvin’s whole life. That would generate an even better reaction!

Shouldn’t be able to impeach a “Founding” father.

Hey, Dad. If Edward VIII can abdicate so can you.

Huh. Go figure. Parents are the original Supreme Court, but with no appeals.

Mom is not getting stuck with Calvin. In the event of divorce, Dad has full time permanent custody.

No fair, Joey down the street gets a new father every other year. His mom even lets him try out a new one while the old one is working.

There is a way to change the ruling regime but it takes until you are around 18. :)

One of the great things about strips like today’s is that it shows where Calvin got his creative, imaginative nature from. It’s not just ‘wild kid and beleaguered parents’, like a lot of strips are.

Calvin, usually fairly logical in his own universe, hasn’t really thought this through. If Dad had a limited term, or could be voted out of office, then resigning would also be a likely option — and with Calvin as his kid, he would have taken that route long ago.

Calvin eventually accepts Dad for life and will run a series of polls of the children in the household to get policy changes.
