My recently deceased wife liked to scratch the instant tickets that took a long time to find out she “lost”. She was aware that it wasn’t a good habit but “our” bills were paid and she worked hard and didn’t have any other vices, so what she enjoyed doing she did. I miss the sound of her scratching the tickets. She always had ideas for the “winnings”
The really scary part of the lottery is what would happen if I won? I’d suddenly be flooded by requests for cash from people I barely know and be forced to move from the home I love in order to disappear.
That’s why the only time I played the lottery was when the the area I was working in had a pool. I’d contribute $5 for the purchase of the tickets and if we won, the amount would be divided by all contributors so that it would be enough to enjoy but not so much that it’d ruin my life.
Many, many years ago, I decided to try the Lottery. At that time, you had to go up to the Grocery Store’s Management Area and ask for a ticket. I was told they were out. Never even been tempted since…

If I ever win the lottery, I’ll wonder how I got a ticket in the first place.
