Wow. We can see them through the back wall of their upper cabinet.

I wish more men thought your way. Unfortunately too many retired men think their wives should never get a break from housework no matter how old or tired.

My grandfather was the same. After grandma got sick he cooked and cleaned. He said she spent 52 years taking care of him, now it was his turn.

Now THERE’S a true husband!

My Mom had Parkinson’s. My Dad, who was NOT domestic in any way, picked up the gauntlet and cared for her rather than put her in a home. Did all the cleaning and cooking. After she passed, he got himself a girlfriend and became a helpless creature once again. LOL

…….Except that the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of sugar, and you grabbed the salt..

What a loving and loyal attitude.

How old are they suppose to be, 80+?? ? If Elly is about 40 were they 40+ too when Elly was born? If they were 30 they are in awful condition for being only 70.

I’m thinking that is wonderful, but I don’t believe she will put up with his cooking for very long. Still, his heart is in the right place.

In most families today both partners put in equal work both outside and inside the home.

It may be a comic but it’s also a reality. I live it every day taking care of my spouse!

It is a good idea. Marian caused one fire. If she causes another that is your fault.

Personally, I can push microwave buttons pretty well.

I hope he and his wife have another 45 years.

My wife and I shared household duties as she worked “outside” of the house. I took care of my friend and MIL. I got CHEATED out of taking care of my wife because she died suddenly and unexpectedly in March and I NEVER got to care for the MOST IMPORTANT person in my life. I HATE it.

That waiting on spouses as they age, depends if the wife is much younger then the husband. Her dad has it right. For me my hubby is older, he does help around the house yet as years change I will have to help him.

Just wait two days after Dad handles things. Mom’s going to have second thoughts that she feels so bad!

This is exactly what’s happening in our marriage for basically the same reasons!

Wow. This reminds me of my parents.

Elle, do your mom and dad a favor, encourage them to arrange for a “Respite Caregiver” now. Your dad thinks he can carry the full care load 24/7/365, but he can’t. He is going to get “caregiver burn-out” very quickly. He needs AT LEAST one day per week that he can leave the responsibility of caring for your mother to some one else while he re-charges his batteries.

Uh boy. Here it comes. My sympathies, gramps.

Thus begins the saddest periods of time in FBoFW history.

this is adorable. Now someone just needs to keep him away from that giant box of salt… :)

Ellie’s father is a classy man who has his priorities right. A man like that is a real keeper. Of course, Ellie’s mother is a sweetie who appreciates him, so they have a win-win relationship.
