My mom said (taught) that you should (that it’s more polite) to face they other way (face toward the people you are passing) when going down a row to get to your seat – so that you don’t put your butt in someone else’s face.
If you figure a movie in a theatre today costs $15.00 for admission and another $15.00 for food and drink then with all the movies and binge watching of tv shows we have done these last 15 months the home theatre setup has paid for itself.
I believe the late Alan King once did some calculations and figured that the money a couple spends to go into town once a month, see a show, have dinner at a nice restaurant, and pay for gas, tolls, parking, and babysitting, over the course of ten or twelve years, could have paid for their kids’ college education.

Maybe ask the person you’re passing which way they want. Might get complicated for you if every other person wanted the opposite direction.

What are these Movie Theaters you speak of? Haven’t been to one in 20 years and I don’t miss it one bit.

I wouldn’t spend $30-#40 just to go so one of the old classics, let alone the trash they produce today.
