A desperate ploy to catch up on all those assignments you’ve been putting off. Live and learn you eternally 8-year old little smarty pants, live and learn.
During one summer between college years I was lying on the floor, listening to music with ear plug in my left ear, watching pro wrestling on the tv and reading Shakespeare’s The Tempest…just for enjoyment.
Speech and brain folks will tell you that you can understand about 1.5 conversations at a time. I have tried this many times in groups, and it seems to be quite accurate for me. Focus on one person, and see how much you can pick up from a different conversation, while maintaining (near) 100% comprehension with your main interaction. You can drift back and forth approaching 100% comprehension of either, but never both.
Neither. “Multi-tasking” is a myth. And not just because I admit I can’t truly pull it off, but because being efficient while trying to multi-task just doesn’t work.
I find that I actually listen better to meetings when I’m doing something else at the same time. I guess the key is to avoid getting so bored that I retreat to daydreaming.

Human beings can’t multitask. We time-divide.

Someone has substituted the term serial task for multitask. That kinda makes sense to me but, wait . . . let me check my schedule.

I read “War and Peace“ while also watching the “Lord of the Rings“ trilogy. One of them is about Russia. I think.

I’ve been fond of a relevant neologism Mallett coined about five years ago.

Like having the TV on while reading the comics on your laptop.

That’s a waste of a good book. I assume one of them is bad, of course.
