You can tell this is an old comic, 10 million dollars (makes me think of Dr. Evil!)

I wonder if they are going to Benji? The movie came out about this time I do believe.

Why did the mother want her out of the house?

At the time this strip was published, Benji was the only kid friendly movie released in 1974.

Back when kids could go to the movies by themselves.

This must be taking place in an alternate Peanuts Universe – Sally and Linus are calmly sitting next to each other at the movies! I remember a number of occasions where Sally wanted to sit with her “sweet Babboo” at the movies, and Linus didn’t want any part of it. Here, he’s happy to be watching the film in Sally’s company, and Sally isn’t as excited as one would have expected her to be.

Pfft! “10 million dollars”! Gotta add a zero to that these days.

Think of how much movie theatres lost when the COVID pandemic hit last year and made a large number of movies get delayed or sent to streaming.

Sally is so good at identifying the incongruous.

Where do they live that has yellow money?

Not shocked her mom wanted her out of the house, and she would’ve paid more, lol

Saturday matinees at the Whiteman Air Force Base theater in Missouri were 25 cents in the mid-1960s. There would be a newsreel, a back-and-white weekly serial from the 1940s or 1950s and then a family rated movie. What is more, our parents would give us the money for the movie in addition to our weekly allowance just to get us out of the house for a couple of hours. We would meet our friends there and everybody would try to get a seat as close to the front row as possible.

Why makes millions when you can make…thousands?

Nowadays 10 mill is minimum wage for some actors

Well, you guys refused to go to summer camp, so they have to get rid of you somehow.

Must be nice to live so near a movie theater. We never lived that close to one so when mom wanted us out of the house she just told us to go play outside.

I have a strange craving for popcorn.
