“Dick” is nothing more than an old English dialect word for a steamed pudding (same etymology as “dough”). “Spotted” refers to the pudding containing raisins. Also, e.g., “treacle dick” – pudding with treacle (akin to US “molasses”).

She should serve them blood pudding sometime!

I was in a British style pub call “The Spotted Dick”. I watched 2 young ladies come in all giggling. they left very shortly after. I don’t know what they were expecting, but clearly they were not expecting a British style pub.
