If the objective is to watch the best possible tennis played by the most skilled players, then I don’t see the joke. If the players aren’t trying to maximize the quality of their tennis, then what’s the point?
The joke is that pro tennis is broken.

Everybody that has heard the tennis star parents story knows how broken it has been for a long time.
Tennis, a true sport. One vs one, little referee interference, no one to blame but yourself.
players have taken off for age / recovery for years so i’m not sure why Rafa doing it now (as he has done before) is an issue or “trouble”.
Players have also taken breaks from the sport for various reasons, including burn out.
Keep making fun of mental health issues, Bill. At this rate you’ll be in the running for SJOTY yourself.
