There’s always gotta be a catch

a wish-granter that doesn’t answer wishes?

So in practice, it granted the same wish as in the previous strip

Should have wished for the million dollars first.

A million doesn’t go far these days. I’d go for at least 20.

I’d say that a real Genie would use the same excuse to get out of wish granting.

Cliff already had plenty of wishes. So the wish-granter didn’t really grant him that. It’s in breach of contract.

“I wish your wish granter was really bad at math”“OK, but now it says you only have 9 wishes left”

So all the wish-granter does is to grant you the “privilege” of making a wish: it doesn’t provide answers, it doesn’t fulfill wishes. And this is something someone couldn’t do before … because … ?
