Just for jollies, I went back through the archive to see if there were any moments where Elly taught Elizabeth how to keep track of money. If I were to go just from the comic strips, there are many where John is the one keeping track of the money that Elly is spending and complaining when she goes over budget. It’s possible that Elizabeth thinks John is the good teacher when it comes to money issues.
I was in retail management for some 30+ years. I taught my step granddaughter how to shop. Every year for Back to School we would shop, just the two of us. I showed her all the fashion stuff and where it was located and then showed her where all the bargains were. She said she like shopping with pawpaw.
Wow…only thing we ever got out of our daughter when we first sent here school shopping her own was a couple of grunts… ME: " so how did it go" HER: ‘ok’…ME: ‘so what did you buy’ … HER: ‘stuff…’ ME: ‘what kind of stuff’… HER: ‘you know…school stuff’ … ok…good talk…great conversation… hope to talk again soon ( like when your 30)

You get to do your own clothes shopping from now on(!) and your mom is happy too!

My granddaughter likes showing me the clothes she buys. She also asks my advice on some things. She seems to value my opinion.
