5k lady bugs? Keeping track of the color scheme must be confusing even for them.
The La Brea Tar Pits seem to be the most prolific fossil deposits. Wonder if they have found species that have never been represented elsewhere? Also wonder how they get the stuff off their boots?
According to comic lore, average Scots are extremely parsimonious with most things, especially money. Maybe because they spent so much of their national language on snow? Do Eskimo languages come anywhere near that number?
The La Brea tar pits used to be on my bucket list… a couple of the coolest things that I remember from my visit: There is still tar coming up through the asphalt in the parking lot in places. There is a display of a 1 yard or 1 meter cube (I don’t remember exactly) of clear acrylic with all of the fossils that were recovered in that cubic yard displayed in place; and it appeared as if there were more bones than space between the bones.
And they are still actively excavating and studying…
Ladybug larvae look like adult insects of an unrelated species. When humans see an enlarged picture of one, they typically don’t like it. It looks ugly; an insect they should be afraid of.
I believe that it would be more accurate to say that Scots Gaelic has 421 words for snow, unless we’re talking about words for snow in all the languages spoken in Scotland: Gaelic, English, etc. I wonder how many words there are for snow in all the languages spoken in the U.S. of A.
Be sure to watch La Brea premiering on NBC on September 28, 2021! From the creator of great television shows like Wisdom of the Crowd and The Enemy Within.

If there is any Scotsman/Scotswoman here, can you give at least a few examples of your word for “snow” and/or a phrase related thereto?

A: Because he was dead

I wonder what the Inuit and Scottish people talk about when they sit around and have coffee.
There is a pothole in the street by our house that could use the tar from the tar pits.
A designer could take the color patterns and make a complete line of summer dress/shirt colors

Scots and Eskimos (Inuit?) should compare their varieties of snow to provide a definitive list of types.

Given how far north Scotland is, you’d think they’d never wear kilts without underwear.

To use bad English is regrettable.
To use bad Scotch is unforgivable.

You can have a quasi-infinite number of “phrases for” something if you’re creative. This one I choose to NOT believe.
