I usually say “my timing chain of thought has slipped a few gear teeth”.

Given adequate IPAs, I pretty much enter train wreck mode LOL

I thought that was literally what that expression meant. How else could you lose a train, but to have it leave its track? Otherwise it would just sit there.

“Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits.”

The older a plugger gets, the easier it is for his train of thought to go off the rails.;D

Oh, so true. My train of thought de-rails from one room to the next. Just another inadequacy of life, just like taxes and insurance.

A Plugger also knows how to throw the switch to get back on track ;-)

I always say, “My train of thought just got derailed.”

Them rusty tracks don’t help much.

It doesn’t matter if all the boxcars are empty.

And then determines it must not have been all that important and moves on. Only to remember it in the middle of the night.

Those switches on that train track can shunt you into siding just by blinking.

A bunch of years ago when my die-hard railfan ex & I were visiting my parents, my mom forgot what she was going to say & said, “Oops, train derailed.” My ex, who hadn’t really been listening, immediately jumped up & said, “Where?” 8-D

First, you need to know which way that train was headed.

I thought there was train coming, which weird because I was on the fishing pier.

I get derailed a lot.
