My late Corgi did that too. If she found water somewhere, she would lap it up. I thought it might be related to public water chlorination, but she loved to drink from the swimming pool as well. Didn’t seem to affect her – she was over 15 when she left us.
My dog drank off the street this morning. I don’t get it either, and she isn’t talking so far. I cook her food and add water to it, so she really doesn’t drink a ton of water generally. It must be the different tastes is my guess. Or like humans peeing in the woods just because they can?

My dog does the same thing. She licks up water after I’ve washed the deck or drinks from puddles even when I’ve just filled her water dish.

I think of Kenny as sort of like Daffy Duck. But a dog.

Neither does Kenny.

Our late lamented Ms Snickers would come in for something to eat, ignore the water bowl and return outside to drink from the closest mud puddle.
