Why eat? You’ll just get hungry again.

If he’s so against showering, why is she even in the car? His smell would have smothered her by now.

Say the same about washing plates, saucepans, laundry etc…

I tell my husband to take a shower before a Dr appointment and he doesn’t believe me when I say it’s been a week (or more). Dementia is not fun.

Washing the car is just as important as other forms of car maintenance. I can heat him now: Why change the oil? It’s just going to get black and sludgy again". Or, “Why change the tires? They will just go bald again.”

Thinking of a clean car in terms of long term maintenance rather than in just the individual cleaning for that day will hopefully help him change his view. Maybe a few subtle comments, (For God’s sake, take a shower already you filthy slob.), will help with the shower thing.

My car is for getting me there and getting me back. To me, they’re a necessary evil. As long as the interior and windows are clean, I am good. It DOES occasionally get washed, but that is about it. It is 8 years old, so it obviously hasn’t hurt it not to wash it regularly.

Everyone knows when you wash your car it’ll rain. And besides the dirt is holding his car together…
