Lucy, I find that before I criticize a person, I walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when I do criticize I am already a mile away, and I have their shoes!
I’ve always like how, when Schulz drew Snoopy’s 3/4 face, you almost always see the tip of the ear on the other side of his head. One of those weird details that many cartoonists leave out.
There are two frames in this toon where even Schulz left it out.
Some people can’t see the beauty in things. Buried an Aunt last Friday. One of the things I spoke about at her funeral was how she was all the time showing me a rock with an interesting shape etc and would say “That rock has character.” Quite often followed by, “Carry that rock over there to that flower bed while you’re here.”
I know people like Lucy here today. I try to NEVER show them something I love. After they get through maligning it, you can’t help but question your taste.
This reminds me of my late husband. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly this past July. He was a rock hound. When I was going through his things, I came across all kinds of rocks. Some in baggies with where they were picked up. His mom is also a rock hound so I gave them to her. I kept a few of the more interesting-looking ones. No idea what they are but they remind me of him.
A neighbor’s dog once dug up a foreleg bone an extinct bison; brought to HS, the biology teacher sent it to Cornell University where it was tested for age and supposedly found to be over 4000 years old. Pretty cool! Maybe not a rock, but a super discovery!

A diamond in the ruff isn’t much to look at. But it is still a diamond. So be careful of which rocks you criticize.

Hard to believe when this originally was published that it started a ‘pet rock’ craze. Some would be starting entrepreneur was a genius.

Thunder eggs aren’t much to look at from the outside. You only see their beauty when you cut one in half.

The world needs the innocence of the Beagle Scouts. Fewer cold hearts, more cold noses.

If Lucy knew anything about rocks, I MIGHT listen to her. But it is highly unlikely she does.

Not to worry snoopy, it takes an expert to identify the gems.
