That’s the problem with reading to help you fall asleep. You need to re-read most of it the next time.
You are what you repeatedly do. IIRC that is my man Aristotle, talking about how the great-souled man builds his character.
(I repeated read over 100 comics a day. I’ll have to think about this some more.)
There was a book on Nun’s garments that hadn’t been washed for a while!
It was called Nasty Habits!
Just don’t jump off the Cliffs notes.
Is that a WWF T-shirt?
No Frazz; he’s not reading it over and over. You mean “Stop trying over and over to read it at bedtime.”
Philosophically speaking, you are less what you repeatedly do and more what you rarely but spectacularly do. Who remembers Beethoven for how often he changed his socks?
Assume a virtue if you have it not.
That monster, custom, who all sense doth eat,
Of habits devil, is angel yet in this:
That to the use of actions fair and good
He likewise gives a frock or livery
That aptly is put on. Refrain tonight,
And that shall lend a kind of easiness
To the next abstinence, the next more easy.
(Hamlet)
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
(Vonnegut)
Yeah, that’s the kind of book all the kids like to read!
