Iā€™m 60 and I expect the PC police to show up anytime now. Iā€™ll still say ā€œThat chick at the storeā€. And Iā€™m referring to a 40 year old woman AND my wife will know who Iā€™m talking about. I donā€™t use it in a mean way, more like ā€œWhatā€™s her nameā€. Still Iā€™ll probably get life at hard labor from the PC police if they catch me. The best I can hope for is time served.

Who was talking to you, or about you, Captā€™n Buttinsky. Go peddle your own papers, or piddle your own papers. Whatever.

Apparently I missed the memo. How, exactly, is the word ā€œchicksā€ supposedly derogatory towards women?

    I donā€™t mind being called a ā€œchickā€. It implies young and cuteā€¦

Some are asking why the term chick is offensive. It seems like itā€™s a matter of context. If I walked up to a lady I did not know, I could begin, ā€œExcuse me maā€™amā€¦ā€ Or I could say, ā€œHey chickā€¦ā€ It seems the latter to be a bit disrespectful. It itā€™s between friends, well, you know your friends and they would handle it well otherwise you wouldnā€™t use it (hopefully).
