If you do the math $ stores are often not that good of a deal. For example a jug of $1 bleach which is often <2% bleach compared to 7% bleach at a regular store for $2.75. If it retails for $1 that is often after at least 2 markups so it likely cost < $.30 to manufacture.
Opal happy people still need to have fun. Hubby and I a week ago went with my sister/hubby to Branson, MO a 6 hour drive, we had fun time. At Ripley’s fairly new had motion mirrors we both had fun moving around to me that was the best highlight of all they had, my hubby who has trouble walking was on a scooter, never occurred to me to have hubby video while we moved around. Another fairly new was the aquarium with ocean fish. That part cost a lot. We ask for hubby was in military for discount tickets both places.
When my grandchildren were younger; I would always ask if they wanted to go with me to town. We would always stop for ice cream or some other treat. You’ve got to make those memories while you can.

Actually being content with what you have is a very important life lesson.

We’re not happy. And going to the dollar store won’t change that.

Are we having fun yet?

Just a question before I give you my answer, Opal: Are those carrots or pepperoni?

Opal has lost her inner child, which makes her a very very unhappy person on the inside!
I truly am sorry for her and people like her!
I have met a few in my life!

The dollar stores might have to change the name to $1.50 or $2.00.

I don’t think she has problem going to the dollar store, just not right now. She is cooking. His timing is wrong.

She sounds like a member of the Uptight Citizens Brigade. Or some sort of religious cult group like the JW or LDS.
