Michael, you show-off, leaving your sister and her classmates out in the cold waiting for the bus while you’re in your warm car.

I suspect that we are supposed to think Elizabeth believes it was disgusting that her bus-waiting-mates thought her brother was a hunk or a babe (an odd combination). However, there is no way 16-year-old Mike was honking at a group of 12-year-old girls.

Michael was honking at Elizabeth. Michael watches Elizabeth leave the house to wait for the bus, and then he gets in the car, drives past her, and honks. Honking the horn to remind Elizabeth that he gets to drive to school while she has to take the bus is exactly the kind of thing Michael would do. He could have given Elizabeth a ride or her 3 friends a ride, but that not the kind of kid Michael is. Elizabeth is right. “That was disgusting” and by “that”, she means Michael.

It was a pretty messed thing to do. Many years later, Elizabeth will cut all ties with him because of the way he treated her. Hahaha, my wishful thinking!

And honestly if he really cared he could have given her and her friends a ride to school

Today, no parent would allow their child to stand outside in the cold like that. They would be sitting in their parents’ nice warm car.… Even when the weather is warmer. Back in the 70s/80s, we walked to school and home.. rain, snow, gloom of night… it didn’t matter (we also delivered the mail too..)

I’m sorry, but I acknowledged that my older brother was extremely good-looking. I even approved when my BFF dated him for a while (they parted friends). I DID have a problem when 16- and 17-year-old co-workers of mine when I worked at Bradlees started hitting on my 13-year-old younger brother! (Yeah, the guys in my family are handsome.)

    Lynn’s Comments:

A letter" “Dear Mrs. Johnston, if that was Elizabeth’s brother, why didn’t he pick them up?” That was a very good question!

Mike really blew that. Yeah, he would’ve had to pick up his sister, but look at all the cute babes she’s with. He might need a date to the prom.

Is that Shawna-Marie next to Liz, or has she been introduced yet? I always forget that Shawna-Marie is Black until I see the strips in color.
