“Freight train, freight train, going so fast
Freight train, freight train, going so fast
Please don’t tell what train I’m on
So they won’t know where I’ve gone”
Hello Lonewolf. Really love your Birdbrain comic.. must look them up. Thanks.

Puddlegum - one of my favorite oldies.
Maybe C&H shouldn’t take the freight train. Those big toughies may try to take their bubbles and yo-yo. Or, maybe that is the place to trade for a harmonica and some lessons in mournful tunes.
Calvin said, “It’s curtains”, because he is responsible, being irresponsible, for the car being ‘draped’ over the ravine. When Calvin is caught, he will get the ‘rod’ of discipline.
Hobbes, you’re already taking Calvin with you; you don’t need another yoyo. “I’ve got the world on a string.” NOT!
“You may not be an angel
cause angels are so few
But until the day that one comes along
I’ll string along with you.”
fran650,
The Chas McDevitt Skiffle Group version of “Freight Train”
with Nancy Whiskey on the vocal (1957) was a favorite of mine, (too).
It’s available on Youtube.
65698 home 65711 work zips, Slim. Catch an empty coal train in either of these zips and go to 82001 and points north. Catch a full coal train and go to Virginia.
bleeep, I didn’t mean that the way it sound, what I meant was I didn’t know it was still being published. I remember it from when I was a kid so I thought…
I used to know all about hopping frieghts when I was young. Got started before they went to diesel emgines. When I was17, I rode them all tha way from Colton, California to Meridian Mississippi. Great fun back in the late 40s!
Calvin said, “It’s curtains”, because he is responsible, being irresponsible, for the car being ‘draped’ over the ravine. When Calvin is caught, he will get the ‘rod’ of discipline.
Are you saying that Calvin had better plan to become a Venetian? That his parents might string him up when they catch him? Love may be blind, but parents usually are not, so Calvin better not shade the truth.
“First thing I remember knowin’
was a lonesome whistle blowin’
and a younggun’s dream of growin’ up to ride…
on a freight train leavin’ town,
not knowin’ where I’m bound,
and no one could steer me right
but momma
beat my butt when she found I put her can in a ditch!”
SANG it Calvin!
I’d have to say the bubbles for me. I was never very good at the yo-yo. I’m always looking now when I go to the store for another different kind of manual bubble blower to bring home for my 3 1/2 granddaughter to try out. This year and the last its become almost a nightly event. There’s plenty of giggles to go around especially that there’s enough sets for everyone now.
I’ve got all three numbers down but,it’s the live-in ones I”m after. Seeing how many states I can get. Don/t hold out much hope on Hawai’i. And Thank You.

I npw have 18 zip codes, Actually 17, got the name and state but not the zip on one,,,,,,yet. And Thank You, Too.

Is this “New Hero” because of my frieght-train riding, or the poetry over on Brenda Starr?
Is that you playing the suitar? I do that a bit myself.

I would have taken both.
Also, it’s been theorized that they live in Ohio, but never confirmed. If they do, they’ll never make it to Canada or Mexico.
