As a teen, I recall Mr. Byrd’s tenth grade Health class — I remember studying each nasty drug’s pros and cons and then determining that I could smoke, but quit once it was legal to buy them [I wrote a note that my mother wanted me to buy Benson and Hedges longs for her]. I never smoked in school as Mr. Byrd’s room was next to the boy’s lavatory, which he patrolled regularly.
The plan actually worked, as once one quits, just one [twice] made me sick as a dog.
The parallels between the Republican’s Big Lie and big tobacco’s Big Lie are staggering. We survived the latter, I sure hope we will survive the former.
Some of the same people (not the same TYPE of people or the same organizations) have transferred their lobbying skills to denying climate change — not meant to exclude types of people and organizations who are participating in the denials.
And, once we use up this planet, Elon will just move some of us to Mars. Problem solved.
With so fewer smokers in the West, the country’s largest cigarette manufacturers still sold 203.7 billion cigarettes last year.World wide or nationwide?
10,185,000,000 packs @ 20 per pack.
$91,665,000,000 @ $9.00 a pack (must be cheaper in India?) 91 trillion bucks plus/minus.
Looking at quantity, must be worldwide.
When you look at the money, you can see how they get away with murder.

Nowadays, tobacco seems almost tame compared to drugs. Kids are a much sought-after market there, too (sigh).
