Portland has a serious PR issue right now. Murders most days, mostly random, and a lot of homeless people who are a lot more of a problem than the do-gooders wish. Complete with tents fully blocking the sidewalk, inhabited by large dogs and surrounded by fecal material.
Besides, Seattle is the home of sandals, shorts, flannel shirts and beards (on the men).
Been to Portland England, and to Chesil beach close by!There are some nasty rip tides at Chesil beach, and I found out the hard hard way when they were dragging me out to sea!
My Dad saved my life by wading in grabbing me before I was gone!
Portland OR where we learned the law states that one is not allowed to pump gas into one’s own vehicle. What the law doesn’t state is what one does after the tank is full and the pump has shutoff, but the attendant still has not returned after 5+ minutes to remove the hose and allow one to drive away. Guy was nowhere in sight when I got out of the car, but as soon as I returned the hose to the pump, he ran up and threatened me with arrest for doing it. I mentioned the unnecessary long wait and he intelligently replied _Yeah. Well . . _ Wonderful state. Lots of strange lifeforms.
I went to summer camp in Maine (over 8 weeks) every year for seven summers, and I used to feel the same then about flannel and cotton bedsheets. (except that it was the other way around, because in summer I slept in a tent, while in winter I slept in a well insulated house.

That description fits Hawaii even better. When it gets below 75F, Hawaiians start freezing.

I’ve noticed that a lot of men with leg tattoos wear shorts no matter how cold it is.

I hope he means Portland, Maine, because the best flannel comes from LL Bean. <3

Where have you been? I’ve been wearing dress shirts and shorts since I started working from home back in March of 2019!

Add a pair of sandals and a warm vest and you too could be a river rafter!

Except for when a storm is blowing through, like now, the coast is about the same.

Shorts YES. Flannel shirts, not for me in summer. Very light long-sleeve is great though.
