Stache never would offer her paw, but I trained her to “shake” just like Rover in the tub. After a bath I’d slick down her fur, close the shower door, and say “Shake.” After she did, I’d slick down her fur again, with a bunch of “Good girl!” and other complements included. I could usually get her to shake three times before she insisted on getting out.
I taught our Golden to “Spin Dry”. He was really great at it, and we appreciated him not coming in, dripping. I made a mistake one morning when it was snowing wet snow: I was taking my coat off and had it open in front when I told him to “Spin Dry”. Got wet snow all up and down my unprotected shirt…

My boss, the vet, breeds dogs, and he has taught them to shake on command after he hoses them off.
So the customer says, “I wonder if that guy taught this dog any tricks. Shake, Rover! Shake! Wait, what? Wow! He’s crazier than I thought!”

My dog’s had learned a number of behaviors on command, but two, Shake and Stretch, never took.

Hmm… Training Rover a new trick ?

Shake usually means shake paw not what he did, but guess Red does the other command give paw.

I just gave my Lab a shower yesterday so this looks familiar.

Maybe the dialog should have been:
“Shake!”
“Yes, I’ll take vanilla, because chocolate is bad for dogs.”
