Decades in the making is this supply situation. In trying to make increased profits, business reduced inventories. “Everything will get here just in time!” they said. Low inventory means if anything goes wrong (like a pandemic* or a major storm at a big port) the supplies stop moving.

*Take a moment in these discussions to remember who, with the help of a lot of Republicans, conspiracy nuts and right-wing media made and continue to make the Pandemic in the United States so much worse than it might have been.

The supply disruption is a another case of Democrats having to fix a problem that business and the Republicans created, while the Republicans howl that Democrats can’t fix it fast enough.

So, how would The Velveeta Voldemort have handled this problem, other then getting on Twitter, yelling a lot, and blaming someone else for the problem???

All the Conservatives Cartoonists got the memo to come up with Supply Chain / Pete’s Family Leave attacks. I have to commend Lisa for not going along with the 2nd part of that order. Perhaps she has kids of her own and is actually in favor of Family Leave as a result. Also, she didn’t make an issue of Pete being gay as did others. 2/3rds of a Kudo!

Loony Lisa seems to be against the Free market, where private companies and business should be allowed to thrive or fail based on their decisions, and yet derides Biden for attempting to address and try and fix it with gasp socialism. Talks out both ends of her rear.

Having spent hours sitting in a line more then once at a container port or a rail yard waiting for a shipment to be loaded for forwarding, I can personally say that this is NOT a new issue, simply because I retired from driving a semi over 12 years ago, and there were slowdowns and backups in the system even then.

Presidents can’t do much of anything about supply chain issues. This is a business/commercial situation that will probably take time to work out the kinks caused by the pandemic. I’ve heard that some of the ships than would normally head to the west coast, are electing to go through the Panama Canal and head for east coast ports. Despite the added distance, they may still be able to dump their cargo faster.
