Today, as I opened the cupboard above her head (bent to look in the cabinet under it), I warned Spouse “watch your head”. Her instant response: “That’s really hard to do without a mirror!”

Saying “Watch your language!” is doubly fun for those of us who like to have fun by taking things literally. There’s also the “language” part of this which is usually meant to refer “profanity” rather than how you are speaking English or Spanish or German …

My mother was a great finger wagger except for the words that came out with it, “wait ’til your father gets home”.
