Lennie, I know you cartoonists are a very tight-knit group, even more than we radio sketchers (i.e., vignette producers) are. I was equally thrilled when I met Paul Harvey at the NAB convention. It is a great gig or what??
That’s a pretty solemn shot on the right, there.
Glad you were able to meet many of your contemporaries.
Don’t let anybody sell you short, you weren’t in a room with your superiors. You were in a room with your contemporaries and colleagues. You belonged there.
It hurts my heart to see the missing building – even a cartoon rendering. I remember going over the Whitestone bridge buildings shortly after the buildings fell and seeing an empty space. Took my breath away.
I’ll never forget that day. I was watching it on TV and I kept thinking that it couldn’t be real. I knew it was real and I was praying that my friend who was flying out of New York that day wasn’t on one of those planes. She wasn’t.
Did you get to meet Jimmy Johnson? His strip of 9/10/01… https://www.gocomics.com/arloandjanis/2001/9/10?comments=visible&replies=visible&comment_id=4204873

That one gave me a chill. Glad you were able to experience that place in 2000.

Over the years there have been a few comic strips that have taken my breath and skip a heart beat in one panel. This is one of such strips.
*sigh

A little bit of irony as “Birdbrains” also has a 9/11 tribute today.

It really cool when you connect with your heroes on subjects outside your industry. Wait, you mean they are only human after all?
