I always “joked” with my loving that she was very lucky because when we got married 34 years ago, she would never have to put up with my family because there wasn’t any. When we married her Grandparents welcomed me into the family and it was always great until they both died in 2007 and her family all but disappeared too. It really hurt when my loving wife died in March and her family for the most part didn’t seem to care. I didn’t expect them to be there for me but they pretty much ignored our son who is an actual blood relative and not someone who is only married to a relative and I have known these people for over half of their lives.
