Back in the late 50’s there were two books we all read, “1984” which was a dystopian conservative future and “Brave New World” a liberal one. We used to argue “if it’s going to one or the other which would be the your choice.” When we were even younger it was “if you had to die would you rather be shot in the head or stabbed in the heart.” We don’t seem to have meaningful dialogues like that any more.
