Like calling “French Fries” “Freedom Fries”. I’ve actually argued what day of the week it was with a local MAGA in front of a calendar, while showing him the front screen of my smartphone. He was convinced it was some kind of scheme libs had set up to trap him. Good thing he was retired, but I imagine his doctor wasn’t too glad when he missed appointments.
Anti-intellectualism is rampant among conservatives many of which think that their “common sense” is more valuable than scientific research, just look at the Covid argument
I know some families who decided to home-school because they were sure that teachers would turn their kids into liberals and teach them all kinds of “bad stuff”… most of them quit home-schooling, and sent their kids back to public school, because home-schooling turned out to be too much work… also, some of them weren’t capable of teaching even 9th grade courses…
Fun fact: the UK treasury is governed by the Office of the Exchequer. The reason the office is called that stems from the Norman French influence, and the fact they were still using Roman numerals when it was created. Exchequer is a direct borrowing from the game of chess, due to the fact that Roman numeral math had to be calculated on a checkerboard system in part because it had no way of representing a zero.

What’s sad is there are actual Americans that think this way; not knowing the numbers we use day to day are called “Arabic Numerals”. LMAO
