The end of my street, overlooking Lake Erie, used to get fish blown onto it during major winter storms. The fronts of the houses would get covered with several inches of ice. One time I stood watching the breaking waves for quite a while. When I turned to head home I found I was also ice-covered. Fortunately it wasn’t thick enough to keep me from walking.

it’s the B side of the Weathergirls one hit,”it’s raining Men”, the lesser known, “it’s Snowing Smelt!”

We seem to be getting a very cold winter, the fish are flying south.

I prefer “its raining cats and dogs” vs the lake-effect fallout!
On a “scale” of 1-5, when they’re “fin”-ished, the yard will be filled with fish out of water…

“I don’t think lake-effect snow is responsible, but never look a gift horse in the mouth! I’ll get the fryer ready, and you get to cleanin’‘em!”

At first I was worried about the fish on top for snow. Then i remembered that snow melts….

The Lake Effect hits east of here harder. If it happened in my neighborhood, there would be a lot of fat stray cats, come spring.
