My wife and I find the âPerfectâ gifts for each other year after year. How you ask? We shop for ourselves. She buys what she wants & places it under the tree, I buy what I want & place it under the tree. Come Christmas we open our gifts (not knowing what each other bought themselves) and weâre BOTH happy! âOh Honey, thatâs what I always wanted!!âŠThank youâŠâ
My wife keeps asking me what I want for Christmas. I keep telling her that I donât need anything. She keeps telling me that I am not answering her question.
Took us a few decades, but we finally reached the letâs donât do that this year stage. Kinda uncomfortable to lose a 60 year old habit, but also kinda nice to be relieved of looking at stuff that is only there to have something to open. We still have each other, and, after the many examples of loss over the past 2 years, thatâs plenty to be happy about.
Prayers for those whose Christmas dinner will include empty chairs at the table.
We have given nonprofits for the Holidays for some 22 years. Everyone on our list gets a card from the charities letting them know of the gift in their name.

this is exactly why I gave up on what passes for christmas celebrations â itâs all about what one gets, not what one gives.

Typical wife scenario. âI donât want anything this Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday/etcâ âWhat did you get me?â

Um, yeah, let me know how that works out for youâŠ
On the other hand, my sister and I, by mutual agreement, have gotten each other the same thing for years now: nothing. Best present ever, again!
