For a few years we had a potted Norfolk Island Pine that we would decorate for Christmas.

Kudos on the Charlie Brown bucket…

My uncle was a forrester. Every year he would dig up a young pine/fir tree, pot it, bring it into the house and decorate it. After the season was over, he’d put it on the porch until the ground was thawed enough to plant it in the huge back yard. By the time he sold the house, it had a fantastic forest in it which provided cooling summer shade and a snow/wind break.

Veal is a noble self-sacrifice by the young foodstock….

But the Christmas Tree may live on in an afterlife if replanted soon enough….

I’ve been using a fibre optic tree I bought about 20 years ago, fitted it with a LED bulb, so it’s about as world friendly as you can get. I suppose I could remove the bulb all together, but Its ever-changing colours still look fantastic to me……..

Our first Christmas tree was a real one. The following 44 years have all been artificial. Our town collects Christmas trees & either chips them into mulch, which we are free to go collect, or sinks them in the local River & a few of the deep ponds, as habitats for aquatic denizens.

if he’s in a bucket, doesn’t that mean he was dug up, not choppeds down? He can be replanted in January. Look on it as getting him in out of the winter cold for a month.
