Fred, more lies are told within the confines of politeness than at any other time. Mrs. Dear will never tell her friend, who loves Yorky dearly, that he was a naughty pain in the neck. That would hurt her feelings. Politeness aka as lying.

Let this be a lesson to you Fred, next time you go for anvisit, be a better guest than Yorky!

Never bring him here again, lady!

Noticing that ‘Mr. Dear’ is ‘keeping out of the line of fire’ ! ! ! !!

Yep. In the interest of friendship, the problems are ignored or down-played. Mrs. Dear is being a good friend & Mr. Dear is staying out of the line of fire.

Oooh Mrs. Dear! Remember Father Christmas is listening and he knows that is such a big fib. Perhaps you could say “Well, he’s made sure we weren’t bored.”

Yorky is cute, but surely his owner knows he can be an agent of chaos (yes, I’ve knows a lot of owners/parents who are completely blind to the flaws in their own pets/children).

Say all of the nice things but be busy next time they ask.

Most realistic portrayal of Yorkies in a comic, are the two evil yorkies in Grand Avenue.

No Fred, she’s being wise with leaving certain details unsaid. Even if Yorky was a little pill, he does have his endearing qualities. Still, I don’t think he’ll be making a repeat visit anytime soon.
