What does that make me, with four rescue dogs, one scheduled to be put down in three days? Note: need bumper sticker that says “Who rescued who?” Love them bunches.
We adopted one pup who had been born in a shelter, bitten by Brown Recluse spiders and lost her tail and part of a leg. Then we were adopted by a dog who had been used for target practice – one front leg shot off, body filled with almost 1000 pellets, then a dog who frightened people who had never seen a Rhodesian Ridgeback with that beautiful ridge of hair along the back, a pup found in the woods with her Mom, a dog who had lived on the street and had to have a back leg amputated, a dog found next to his dead Mom with part of a leg missing and a huge gash in his side – coyotes tried to eat him, a pup wandering in the street – hit by a car and one front leg amputated, a weeks old pup thrown from a moving car – fractured pelvis and back legs which healed! And the 9th babe was so abused she is afraid to leave home and property. She had been taken for a ride and left on a road. At one point we had all 9 and it was magical. Time has helped 4 cross the Rainbow Bridge but they all have made our lives so much better. The remaining 4 continue to rescue us daily. Muffin, Max, Chance, Toolie, Babe, Spike, Lucky, Javert and Lou have introduced us to more love than can be imagined.
My beautiful rescue border collie Shilo, seen here in my avatar picture, was the one who really rescued me. He helped my live with the loss of my last dog Samba, another collie and soon became the absolute love and light of my life. On August the 31 this year my mother passed away from cancer and he has been helping me with that too. I will always be so grateful to him for all he has done and been for me over these 7 and a half years he has been in my life and I love him more than anyone or anything. He really is my whole world. When you rescue a dog you get in return unconditional love, a true and loyal friend, one who makes you laugh everyday and comforts you when you need it. This is exactly what I get from Shilo and I cannot thank him enough for it. Yet all he wants from me is to play with his frisbee and give him a scratch behind his ear and the odd treat his food and water and just simple general care. Typical dog. They give so much and expect so little in return. He’s definately my little super hero.
My ‘Spotty dog’ saved me,when i was recovering, from Alcohol abuse and then from an accident, which left me with a poor memory of stuff I used to know. People, places, etc. ‘GONE’! My vocation and hobby ‘GONE’. I am fortunate to Have gocomics, still. Love the comments, which help me keep on truckin. ;>)

This comic appears to have shrunk to him and hos dog. His wife and other dog rarely make appearances. Did I miss a divorced arc or something?
