Having survived a pressure cooker incident as a child, my spouse was terrified of the Instant Pot. It took many demonstrations of its safety before he would give it a try!
I have one. I was initially scared of it as well. I have used it twice. Once for a pot roast (used the slow cooker setting and was not happy with the result. I prefer a regular slow cooker for stuff like that). And used it once for cooking artichokes. It worked pretty well for that. I think they only took about 10 minutes to cook. It did not explode. Seemed easy to operate. And I am like you. My husband says I could tear up an anvil with a cotton ball (I break things frequently—I swear I just touched it and it fell off in my hand!)
Oh, and my friend in the 3rd panel – she has a YouTube called Stephanie’s Farmhouse where she has a few recipes and a lot of DIY things! She is pretty talented.

Was given two for wedding presents. It took year’s before I had enough nerve to use one.

What could be dangerous about a kitchen appliance with the potential to literally explode?

I’ve thought the exact same thing, Amanda.

Amanda is the fool who can get around foolproofing? A most interesting superpower.

They are great. We use them for roasts and stews.

I think we all know how fool-proof those ‘fool-proof’ things are. Be afraid ~ be very afraid.

Amanda, you can do this. Go for it. You will succeed.

I need to use it more often, I think.

Hmm, a weaponized roast, this may be useful if snacks don’t do the trick for your class. :))

I loved our pressure cooker. Till the microwave it was the only way to cook vegetables. Stews came out pretty good too.

P.S. I know I spelled “inadvertently” incorrectly.

Seems she has a web page, too. She needs to eat more. No, I’m not jealous. Really. OK, fine. I am. :)
