The adult Peppermint Jen has the same problem during Drool Bucket Joe’s speeches and press conferences waiting for him to tie two coherent sentences together. Or just two sentences, for that matter. Cheer up, Peppermint Jen. Take a hint from Goal Post Smile Stacy Abrams and skip them altogether.
I was taking night classes and fell asleep in one. The instructor woke me up and asked if he was keeping me awake. I think I told him he was giving it a good try. Only happened once, thankfully.
My wife substitute taught once at a high school in a very affluent area (students coming to school in chauffeur-driven limos, seriously). During one class period, one of the students nodded off in class. My wife very gently touched his shoulder and said simply, “Are you alright?” The kid came up right in her face at full boil, accused her of harassing him, and loudly announced that she would be hearing from daddy’s corporate lawyer.
It turned out that the lawyer did call her and asked what her side of the story was. She very calmly told him what had happened, and the lawyer’s response was, “Yup, just what I thought. The kid is a spoiled brat. ‘Daddy’ is off honeymooning in the Bahamas with wife # 6, and the kid does stuff like this to get attention. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.”
That was the last she heard of the entire incident.
Part of my duties when I was a foreman for an industrial plant was to conduct Safety Meetings. This particular meeting involved a 15 min film. When the lights came up one of our people was asleep. I called his name several times, no response. I was walking over to him, when he said “Amen,” and opened his eyes. The whole place burst out laughing, including me.
As a former teacher I can confidently state that I never saw a student fall asleep that way. They always laid their heads on their desk. Lots of drool puddles…

With those skinny necks, the Peanuts crew really needs to be careful of that.

When I’m tired and sitting in a comfortable place, like my grandchildren’s bed, I can fall asleep while reading a book to them. Kinda embarrassing.

I believe this may be the start of a great story arc! I won’t spoil it so new readers can enjoy it.

She invests too much of her time in ice skating at night. It disrupts her sleep patterns.

Perhaps she should go to the nurse to check on that whiplash.
